Over several winters I photographed dormant trees in my neighborhood--sometimes lying in the snow to get the right angle. The digital images were printed on cotton, often layered with fabrics and stitched. No paint. These portraits explore identity, image vs. character/spirit, female archetypes, ballet characters, and the states of nature as expressed by trees.
Libby has a unique voice and an impressive range of artistic talents. She is also
a skilled photographer who finds exciting ways to modify and translate her
images for a textile medium. She produces striking art quilts
that speak to the internal lives of contemporary American women.
