Because meals and eating are such an important part of culture, I began this series on global warming with a still life of a place setting: table, chair, plate, fork and knife. The weather and light on this particular day enabled me to capture the surface distortions of the items underwater as well as the reflections of clouds in the sky. Note: compared to the original, your print may be cropped slightly to fit the print format.
This still life, absent a human subject, is not intended as a monument to a culture lost to climate change. Rather, the weaving reflections and distortions suggest that the chair was just backed away from the table--its occupant off to stop the oven timer.
