It was important to me to express my relationship with dominance and not just illustrate a design principle. This piece centers on a looming, confident, blue figure supported by a skirt of many legs: knowledge, experience and maneuvering. The color and textures of the skirt dominate the figure, which in turn dominates the entire frame including an implied arena of spectators in the background. The cut-outs reveal what is under the surface: a process of persuasion and conviction in converting fabric tangles from orange to blue.
Materials & Techniques - cotton, silk, damask, satin, flocked polyester taffeta, beaded and other polyester. Machine pieces and stitched. Cut-outs and outer edges are faced. Organza pouches have heat-fused edges and are filled with fabric strips. Pouches are tacked to the inside corners of each cutout.
